We are pleased to inform that the 18 years of Fundação Gol de Letra have been – and still are – considered as years of learning, maturing, and collective construction of methodologies, practices and results that are constantly and fortunately reaching more and more people.

Presently, our activities are focused on sports, education, culture, leisure, capacitation and work skills, life project, family empowerment and community development, being put into practice and serving as an example in several institutions, states and countries.  In 2016 we had the opportunity to reinforce the work with our “youth axel,” which, in one way or another, is always present in all our programs and projects.

The year was full of novelties to Fundação Gol de Letra in Rio de Janeiro, which completed its 10th anniversary in Caju District. The head-office had a big remodeling and inaugurated the Centre of Education and Professional Preparation, in partnership with Instituto Nissan, thus launching the Youth and Opportunity Project.

Based on it, the professional courses are offered together with the Fundamental III, High School, and pre-evaluation course; they are taught by specialized industry professionals and certified by the Firjan system. They represent an important gate to the employability of the young and adult persons of the community.  In terms of project results, the institution doubled the number of persons assisted along the year.

Following the Olympic and Paralympics Games in Rio, several activities, such as interexchange and new sports modalities were developed, generating new learning and integration activities. The Tijuca Integration Games took place in 2016, expanding Gol de Letra´s performance area in Rio de Janeiro. In parallel, the activities in Barreira do Vasco (in Caju´s neighborhood), were in full speed.

Gol de Letra had a very busy year in São Paulo. The Youth Program re-started the Arts and Communication activities, with theatre workshops, dance, audio-visual and graffiti  activities in governmental schools. The graduation of the first bakery course (bread, sweets and chocolate) took place, and the totality of the students were immediately employed! The first school year of Vila Albertina Governmental School took place in the new head-ofice in S.Paulo. The new integral education school is a partnership with S.Paulo State Government Educational Secretariat.  Its curriculum and methodology are based on the Foundation´s experiences and assisted 150 children in the first five years.

We are very proud of our history, our conquered victories and acquired knowledge, but, as a social organization, we always look for new opportunities to refine our practices, defend the minorities and improve the public policies regarding integral education.

During the present serious political and social crisis of the Brazilian economy, it is imperative to establish solid partnerships with companies, institutions and individuals, to perform a work of excellence. In 2006 we assisted almost 3 thousand persons (children, teenagers, young people and adults) in the communities we cover.

Some projects offered by social organizations like Fundação Gol de Letra are the only link of the low bracket communities to services concerning education, culture, sports, leisure, citizenship and employability. Unfortunately, the resources dedicated to this purpose are low, and maintain a continuous social work is our biggest challenge. On the other hand, the smiling faces around us have always indicated that we are taking the right path. We are motivated to continue with our 18 year old dream, which is in constant renovation.
