The main objective of the Youth´s Program of Fundação Gol de Letra is contributing, in partnership with governmental schools, to the integral development of adolescents and young people, strengthening their identity and self-esteem.
For that, the audio-visual, graffiti, theatre, and educational workshops are offered to young people between 14 and 21 years of age that study at the governmental schools of Vila Albertina´s region, in the northern zone of São Paulo City.
The Youth Program has two axels: “Arts and Communication”, in which the students attended to 75% of the activities in 2016, and “Path to Employability”, which was even better in terms of attendance: 88%.
Arts and Communication Axel counted on graffiti, audiovisual and theatre workshops, before/after school hours (Dr. Alberto Cardoso de Mello Neto and Professor Leonidas Paiva Governmental Schools). The activities´ focus is on the development of constructive criticism and the ability to communicate using artistic and communication languages.
The Path to Employability Axel develops partnerships to execute educational and work training programs. The courses and workshops are done either together with companies and organizations or solely in Fundação Gol de Letra, using its own methodology. There were three workshops in 2016: Introduction to Carpentry in partnership with Leroy Merlin; Bakery and Sweet Shop, offered by Puratos do Brasil; and Basic Education to Employability, sponsored by Starbucks Brasil.
In 2016 we had the completion of the first Bakery and Sweet Shop Course done in partnership with Puratos at SENAI´s school in Barra Funda.
Young people of Vila Albertina´s region had the opportunity to graduate in the craft of bakery by attending 828 class hours of theoretical and practical content.
Ten young people got the certificate of this two-year course and they all have formal jobs now, some of them enjoying their first professional experience.
Complementary activities were also part of the regular program offered to these young people, such as: Participation in Brazil-France Interexchange Program; External Activities (exhibitions, Students Fairs, Visits to Companies, among others); Monitoring work during the 2016 Documentary International Festival and during the 40th Cinema International Show; Participation in Goal for Equality Festival and in Citizen´s Week (graffiti, audiovisual, theatre and bakery activities), together with the programs entitled Open Game and Communities.

“The visit to Puratos Factory was an excellent experience, I had the opportunity to get acquainted to the procedures regarding the manufacturing of the products that we use in class. It is really good in terms of detail and care for quality. After this visit I realized I had chosen the right vocational course. I am grateful for having the opportunity to know this other side of Puratos and, mainly, for the course propitiated by you. My thanks to the professionals, who were very nice and patiently solved all our doubts”.
Anderson S. Xavier, 18 years of age, student of the Bakery and Sweet Shop course.
“The graffiti activity led me to doing bigger drawings, using special materials, and having more ideas for my drawings. It has been fun, but I want to learn more about the letters and the fine traces. I learned the difference between graffiti and scribbling. I have more friends, now.”
Joel Jorge Rivera Pinto, 14 years of age, student of Graffiti Worshop.
“I learned many things in this course. We had theoretical and practical classes, learning about wood (types and names), and the use of objects and machines. In the theoretical classes I learned how to do the blueprints and deal with numbers, activities required for the manufacture of cases and small chest of drawers. I think that I made progress, as every workshop represented a new learning and more knowledge. Besides that, we learn how to work in team”.
Ester Rocha Silva, 17 years of age, student of the Introduction to Carpentry course.
“I got acquainted to technical equipment that I did not know about, and I learned how to use them. I learned the purpose of several tools and their use to manufacture the parts involved in the course. I realized the meaning of team work, respect to others, partnership, union, understanding and friendship. I was pleased to make more friends and meet people who were my colleagues for a long time but with whom I had never spoken”.
Aryane Roberta, 17 years of age, student of the Introduction to Carpentry course.
