Sports, social integration and citizenship actions. This is the Open Game´s dynamics. It also involves families and public schools of Barreira do Vasco, a very low bracket community, socially and economically speaking, in the northern zone of Rio de Janeiro City. In 2015, the start-up of the Project, 120 children and adolescents from 6 to 15 years, were directly assisted via tennis and judo activities. This was a very intense work year, focusing on the establishment of the project, which was still very embryonic (Open Game´s activities in Barreira do Vasco started in November, 2014). All the work processes were implemented: pedagogic, administrative and social ones. A solid network of partners was built and it empowered the social assistance actions. The students´ families started a good relationship with Fundação Gol de Letra, based on trust, and important achievements were done in this first year of activities.
The result is rewarding! We ended the year with 76% of the vacancy dully filled, and all the expected actions were accomplished: Citizenship Goal, Barreira´s Integration Games, Tennis Festival and participation in the Judo Festival of Open Game Caju. These actions disseminated sports culture to children and adolescents.

“I used to stayed home doing nothing but watching TV. My mother heard about Gol de Letra´s sports activities and decided to do my enrolment. I am here and I like Judo very much; I learned its techniques (fall, kick and domination). Being responsible is very important, I am very happy for the possibility of coming here”.
Ana Julia Solever da Silva, 8 years of age
“Barreira´s Citizenship Goal was very good. The Program is a big benefit for the community, which has the opportunity to obtain its documentation for free, besides having the chance to work-out. It is a great help for the older people that live here.”
Rafael Dias Ladeira
“The place is cool, as the local children do not have much space to play. I also like the tennis classes very much”.
João Pedro Oliveira Pereira
“I feel much better now, I have already done a lot of progress and that makes me very happy. I really enjoy coming here to have classes, I have new friends and every day I learn something new. I love the teachers.
Carlos Estevão Neves Rodrigues, 10 years of age.
“I think that Fundação gives the children a new way of seeing the world, every day represents a new learning. This is done via events, activities, kindness and friendship. It is just like being with old friends”.
